• So we all know that nothing NBC is showing in prime time right now is actually happening live. Oh, no. They’re very clear about that. And while I understand the desire to feature the competitions you think people back home in the States would like to see live during prime time, I also think we might want to talk to the news media about posting spoiler warnings on their coverage. Cause they’re totally ruining the surprise factor for me. But I am enjoying the ability to say this: “You don’t know this yet, but So-and-So is going to win. I know. I’m clairvoyant.”
• American track and field star Lolo Jones is beautiful. But not intimidatingly so. She seems like the kind of girl who would be fine with grabbing a pizza and watching the game. I think we could be friends. (And I felt really sorry for her last night!) And she ran track at LSU, so props to you SEC fans. (And yes, Janice, I know you’re throwing things at the screen because I mentioned LSU. Sorry!)
• I miss swimming. All the muscles, torsos, amazing speed, and Michael Phelps. Diving just isn’t the same. (Now my graphic designer did send me a pic of Mark Spitz with his 7 medals and Mike with his 8, shirtless of course, because when you’re Michael Phelps you don’t have to wear shirts. But it sparked inappropriate conversation, so I had to put it on the inside of my office door where no one can see it.)
• I watched the men’s 400m run last night. And for about 2 seconds I was like, “400m, that’s nothing. I could do that.” Um, no. I think I’d be run over and trampled. And laughed at, cause I’M SLOW!
• When did trampoline become an Olympic sport?
• Are they going to show rhythmic gymnastics? You know, the sport that involves ribbons and other strange things?
• I’m not as into the track & field stuff as I was swimming. I’m not sure why.
• Bela Karolyi is like a big bear of a man. Who makes me laugh. His righteous indignation is right on, but a bit funny to watch.
• Did you hear about the Spanish synchronized swimming pair who can’t wear their fancy bathing suits? Because electricity and water mix so well!
That’s all, folks. Tonight I have choir, then Project Runway and Ghost Hunters, so not much Olympic watching for me.
(PS. someone hacked my facebook account! Bleh! And whoever sent me the nice text message this morning, thanks!)

Trampoline: since 2000; Rhythmic Gymnastics starts tomorrow night and goes thru the weekend. I can’t get into track at all but I did enjoy pole vaulting of all things. And we watched the Mizzou alum throw shotput. Here’s a question – did you know BMX is an Olympic sport?!? – aired late last night. How do you add BMX and eliminate Baseball and Softball? I don’t get it.

I had heard BMX was an Olympic sport. My brother was oddly excited about it. I’m sad that baseball and softball are being eliminated, too. I don’t get a lot of the decisions the IOC makes!

yeah, i was innocently checking ESPN yesterday and of course they had a bloc in the top right corner of their webpage with olympic info, so i already knew of Lolo and Shawn before they came on last night. NBC’s own website had the Shawn info too. wth? i’m not checking any website that could possibly have information on the basketball game though. i want to watch it later without knowing!

I wasn’t throwing things, but I was considering not reading anymore! And I can’t say I haven’t watched any at all now – I saw like three girls do the vault the other night. I have no idea who I was watching, but none of them were all that great at it.
