There may be no words, but I’m writing some anyway! (And, yes, I’m aware I did a dispatches type of post earlier this week, but suck it up and deal with it, ’cause I’m pretty much doing it again!)
• SWEET MOTHER! David Cook won “American Idol.” My heart is full! I had all but prepared myself for the inevitability that The Archuleta was going to win. And then when he didn’t, I stood up and screamed for like 5 minutes. And then, I got a little dizzy and had to sit back down. Then I got teary-eyed, because we all know about my crying. Reasons I love David Cook: this, this, and this video.
• Other notable AI moments: David and ZZ Top, the George Michael medley, you know, until George Michael came out looking remarkably old and sang some really slow boring song that made me want to die a little; the “Pips” video featuring Jack Black who cracked me up, especially with his pants (since I have the sense of humor of an eighth grade boy, apparently); Hot Michael Johns and Carly singing together (HOTT); the Guitar Hero commercial featuring David Cook that I nearly missed all of because I was in the bathroom; and finally, Simon apologizing to David Cook about Tuesday night’s comments. My favorite moment, though, was when DC got everybody up there with him to sing us out. I love you, David. I’ll buy your album!
• I set a new personal best in the 5K yesterday, according to my trusty Nike+ system. I’m currently running on pace for a 9 minute mile. I’m pretty pleased with this. And since the words, “I hate running” have been known to come out of my mouth, this whole Mandy’s-a-runner thing is kind of surreal. Sometimes I laugh when I think about what my elementary P.E. teacher and junior high/freshmen year volleyball coach (who LOVED running, or at least making us run) would say if he could see me now. • I’m wearing my rockin’ guitar T-shirt (with a blazer) and my cowboy boots today. Partially in homage to David Cook. Partially because I like it when I can find a way to wear a slightly funky T-shirt to work and get away with it.
• It’s Thursday, which means one day closer to the long weekend!

Ahhh the days of endless running for Coach Z….can’t say that I miss that much
However, as much as I hated the miles and miles around in circles in the gym, I must say many of my coaching techniques I use today were learned from him. Some”what not to do,” of course!
AI note: DVR has failed me….Apparently Idol went a little long because I only got 1 or 2 lines of the final song even though it recorded until 5 after!!! I’m going to try to find it online somewhere today, but I was heartsick last night.

My favorite part of the show was when Brooke White sang with Graham Nash – “Teacher Your Children”. Brooke looked so pretty and they sounded great together.
I also almost fell off my chair laughing at Jack Black. What a goofball! I love it.
