Last week, I wrote a thoughtful post about the power of song lyrics. I love me some good lyrics. And most often, music speaks to me in a way few other things do. So in that post, I quoted some lines from a local Nashville musician, Dave Barnes. I love him. I’ve loved his stuff since I first heard Brother, Bring the Sun one day when a former coworker (and Dave’s former roommate) asked me to give it a listen.
So I was completely surprised when my post including Dave’s lyrics was followed by an email message from someone at Razor and Tie. And this friendly soul asked for my address so he could send me some selections from Dave’s upcoming CD, stickers, and a poster. I, of course, always the fan of freebies, was quick to hop on that bandwagon. And today, I got my poster, CD, and stickers.
If I’d known I could possibly get free things from talking about artists I love, I would have been name-dropping a long, long time ago.
Seriously.
And just so you can share in my love for Dave Barnes, watch this video. It’s not singing. It’s HILARIOUS!

Okay, I hadn’t seen the Balumtine’th Day video. I just snorted out loud. Dave Barnes is hilarious, and I’m so glad you told me about his music!
